Picture of the Day 02.17.2012 by mbaldelli Picture of the Day 02.17.2012 by mbaldelli
Back in 70s when I was in elementary school, I remember that during one of the safety films that it was urged that for safety we walk and ride against traffic. As an adult, while I can understand the logic of walking when facing traffic, riding on the other hand seems nothing like danger -- for both the bikers as well as drivers.

Unfortunately though, this lesson seems to have carried on. Not to mention passed down to the next generation. How long this will last is anyone's guess, but at least some cities have taken the initiative to put up signs like this around the busier roads and neighborhoods.

I take this sign to mean, "Bikers, go home with that bike and ride in a car." Very offensive.

:XD: That is some twisted thinking. Although not unusual given that pedestrians are normally viewed in a world of cars like second class citizens.

In New Bedford when the no walk stop hand is displayed they run across the street and give it a high five!

In Rhode Island, cross walk signals are ignored. Traffic coming? Screw them pedestrians always have the right of way.

Or at least that's what some people tend to think.

Sounds about right for most of New England , I've been to some parts like Cape Cod and Maine where everyone is so polite it throws me for a loop.

You'd love the Deep South then. Manners are quite important.
